Judge John C. Griffin
Judge John C. Griffin has an impressive list of accomplishments including a long-standing commitment to Irish community organizations across the Chicagoland area.
Judge Griffin, a retired Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, is currently an arbitrator and mediator for JAMS Dispute Resolution Service. He has also been an elected Trustee and Chairman of the Board for the Moraine Valley Community College (1985-1991).
John Griffin has the distinction of being the President of Gaelic Park for 20 years and has also served as President of the Irish Fellowship Club. He also served as the President and Treasurer of the Young Irish Fellowship Club. John was also the Treasurer of the St. Patrick’s Day Committee for 20 years and a Director for the organization since the mid-80s. He also chaired four of the Young Irish Fellowship Club’s Forever Green St. Patrick’s Day parties including the first three that took place at Chicago’s iconic Navy Pier. He has also been the Vice-Chairman of the first two of Old St. Pat’s World’s Largest Block Party and has also been a member of the Irish American Heritage Center since the mid-90s and received the honor of IBAM volunteer of the Year in 2013. He is also an Associate Member of the Emerald Society of Illinois and received the distinction of Irishman of the Year in 2010. He also has the honor of being the last live St. Patrick in the 1976 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
John Griffin, a lifelong Chicagoan, is married to his wife Mary Ellen and has 3 children and 8 grandchildren. And, beginning with his grandfather, his family also includes four generations of John Griffin Plumbers.
John Griffin graduated cum laude with a J.D. from the De Paul University, College of Law. He also received his B.B.A. with honors from the University of Notre Dame and is a graduate of St. Rita High School in Chicago.
